Members Sam M Sweis Posted May 6, 2005 Members Posted May 6, 2005 Can you all tell me what you think of this solo I just recorded? http://www.painpurge.com/Test.mp3
Members TheBlueGuy Posted May 7, 2005 Members Posted May 7, 2005 How long have you been playing? What guitarists do you like?Tell me then I'll tell you what I think.
Members Sam M Sweis Posted May 7, 2005 Author Members Posted May 7, 2005 I've been playing guitar for about 6 years, but only started scales and theory this past month. I love Randy Rhoads, Zakk Wylde, Jake Lee, Yngwie, and the likes.

I listened to your mp3 again tonight, but I'm not home and I can't hear it very clearly on these speakers. Anyway. It sounds like a planned, structured solo. That's not necessarily a bad thing, although you don't want people to hear it as a bunch of separate bits stuck together. I think the weakest link in the sound is that it sounds too "sweet". In a song this heavy I'd be reaching for "nastier" modes and such like the Locrian or some diminished arpeggios, especially in that bit where you do some sliding.
Members Sam M Sweis Posted May 10, 2005 Author Members Posted May 10, 2005 Cool man thanks! I guess I'll start getting into those darker sounding scales! Can't wait!
Members pretaanluxis Posted May 11, 2005 Members Posted May 11, 2005 not bad, but the rythm guitar needs to be turned down and made less buzzy
