Fingering Help for Lick

What would be the best way to finger this lick? The notes on the 14th fret of the G string are bent up a step. They are arranged in a triplet position.

Now, would I bend the note on the 14th fret, then lay my finger across the fretboard on the 12th fret and pick each of top two strings? When I try doing this, it sounds messy, especially with overdrive.

I've also tried to bend the note on the 14th fret and then hit each of the 12th notes seperately. I'll use my index and ring finger to bend, then quickly hit the 12th on the B string with my index, skip up a string, and hit the 12th on the E with my index. However, this is obscenely slow.

Is there a faster technique to doing this, or do I simply need to keep practicing with the same technique I described in the second example? Thanks in advance.

I bend the note on the 14th fret with my ring finger, the middle finger is on the 13th fret (same string) and supports the bend.

The notes on the 12th fret are played with the index finger only. You have to roll the finger like this:

Fret the b string with the fingertip, then pick the string. Roll the finger towards the high e string so the fingertip will go up and unfret+mute the b. At this time the fleshy part of the index finger should start to press down the e-string on the 12th fret. At this moment pick the note on the high e. During the entire motion my finger has contact to the strings, it either presses a string down or mutes it.

The placement of the index finger is crucial. It works best for me when the middle of my nails is exactly between the two strings.

For the right hand, I play all notes with downstrokes and use the fleshy part of my thumb to mute the bended note (that kinda goes automatically). I play it like a sweep.

Hope that helps.

It'll take practice and time to get the coordination and timing perfect. Play it slow and pay attention that you get the note transition between b and e as clean as possible. Maybe you should first try to just practice the roll and ignore the bend for a while.

Personally, I do that bend with my middle finger. Farther down the fretboard, like on the 5th fret, I'd use my ring finger, but higher on the fretboard, the middle one. Seems to put me in a better position to go into whatever lick comes next. And up around the highest frets, it's the only way my fingers fit on the fretboard.
