Members Virgman Posted July 5, 2005 Members Posted July 5, 2005 I watched the DVD: SRV - Live at Mocambo (1983) This is an awesome display of guitar playing. I highly recommend it to further a student's awareness of nasty strat playing. SRV's guitar looks like it sat out in the rain for a few years and then spent a few weeks as a piece of driftwood. The neck looks very shiny though. 5 stars ****!!!!

Absolutely agree. Mocambo is a must see for anyone interested in playing the guitar. Even if you're not into blues/blues-rock, I think this show is a great example of how much feeling a person can put into what he/she is playing.

Members Little Dreamer Posted July 6, 2005 Members Posted July 6, 2005 We saw him at the old Met Center in Minneapolis a few weeks before he died. Best show I've ever seen - so much feeling in everything he played.
Members tiger roach Posted July 6, 2005 Members Posted July 6, 2005 Thanks for posting this, Virgman - I was just pondering what music DVD I should get next. Excellent idea! *runs off to amazon.com*
Members adamsj Posted July 7, 2005 Members Posted July 7, 2005 El Mocambo kicks ass! There's some good DVD footage in the SRV box set too.
Members pallas Posted July 9, 2005 Members Posted July 9, 2005 i love the last bit on that dvd wherein he just abuses his guitar and knob-feedback blowout:D

Members Virgman Posted July 14, 2005 Author Members Posted July 14, 2005 Seriously, I was surprised at how much energy Springsteen put into it. The guy's in his mid 50's.He even played most of the guitar solos including a really cool acoustic slide version of Born in the USA.He sweats as much as SRV.
Members 57GLDTP Posted July 15, 2005 Members Posted July 15, 2005 SRV never played a note He didn't mean........................
Members d0zerz Posted July 16, 2005 Members Posted July 16, 2005 Yeah that's a wicked DVD.I played on that stage 15 years after he did ... I was just a wee lad though and didn't care for blues guitarists
