Members LIAR-502 Posted June 28, 2005 Members Posted June 28, 2005 at the moment i'm basically only doing trills but i need some exercises to help strengthen my fingers to do some legato stuff. you guys help me out at all? also anyone got any things for improving stretch of fingers?
Members bdemon Posted June 28, 2005 Members Posted June 28, 2005 John Petrucci's instructional video has a few cool tips for developing legato. One involves rolling the fingers in part of a scale back in forth. Example...first string, first position of A dorian has three notes, 5th, 7th and 8th frets. With one hand you hammer & pull off back in forth, 5-7-8-7-5-7-8-7. Do that on each string in a position.
Members lethal licks Posted July 28, 2005 Members Posted July 28, 2005 Well if you want to stretch your fingers.. STRETCH THEM! what i mean by that is find scales that are pretty wide... take this one. 3-5-7.....3-5-7.. etc all the way to like the G string. and ive never tried it but ive heard they work magic, there called finger weights. There actual weights that you strap around your fingers and while you play you strengthen your fingers. So when you take em off its like you dont really even have to try. I thought it was kind of a crock of crap BUT ive heard some good things about em and i believe it now.
