Members Terje Posted July 1, 2005 Members Posted July 1, 2005 I'm thinking that I'm gonna try some of the educational programs you can get for Band In A Box, since I already have the program. Some of them seem OK and I've begun to think that perhaps this is a good way for me to learn. Without analyzing it deeper right now I know that I learn songs very easily and fast via the computer. I often write tunes down in the computer (using BIAB) and then I learn them that way. Often I have then read and learnt the tune so I at least know where the notes are. Then I just hit "play" and set it to loop the song. Hearing it, while seeing it and playing it at the same time seems to be a good way to learn for me.Being alone while doing it seems to be another part of it. Anyone tried this?
Members tuvokzeta9 Posted July 1, 2005 Members Posted July 1, 2005 Yes, its a bad idea. If you have to ask why then you should just play Nintendo and forget about guitar...
Members Bajazz Posted July 1, 2005 Members Posted July 1, 2005 I use my computer all the time when playing music. All kinds of software, write TABs, metronome, tuner, GST etc... Last thing I bought was "Carry-A-Tune Singing coach", vocal trainging software. One thing I notice is that if you let the PC dictate too much you will limit your creativity. So don't let it! Be sure to not be too addicted to it, it's just a tool. Hell, don't be to attached to your guitar either!

Members adamsj Posted July 7, 2005 Members Posted July 7, 2005 I use Acid Pro to learn and rehearse all my repertoire these days. I can slow things down with it to ridiculously slow speeds without changing pitch, and loop endlessly It's an amazing tool. It ain't the cheapest tool for that out there, but I already had it for studio stuff anyway when I accidentally realized how great a guitar study tool it is.
