Members nosferatu123 Posted July 14, 2005 Members Posted July 14, 2005 D E F# G# A# B C D Seems to be like a cross between a Lydian Augmented and a Lydian Dominant. Any specific name for this scale? Or is it some kinda Harmonic Minor mode?

Members UnderTheGroove Posted July 14, 2005 Members Posted July 14, 2005 I've been putting together some info on exotic scales and could not find this one. You could try this website:Scale Builder I'll be interested to hear if you can find a name for it!

Enigmatic is: whole, minor 3rd, whole, whole, whole, half, half, whole.
Members Aerys Posted July 14, 2005 Members Posted July 14, 2005 The Byzantium scale (similar to the Spanish Gypsy scale) also contains 2 consecutive half-steps. It might be that, my brain is too tired to figure it out.

I remember the interval being a #4, 5th and -6th.... Meanwhile a for my scale i went on researching and nothing turned up...
Members UFOScorpion Posted July 15, 2005 Members Posted July 15, 2005 I learned a scale as the Gypsy Minor (Ritchie Blackmore) but my book shows it as the Egyptian scale: E-F#-G-A#-B-C-D# which I've also played with D instead of D# If you raise the G to G# (minor to major?) you would have it. You could call it Gypsy Major.
Members alez Posted July 20, 2005 Members Posted July 20, 2005 Yet another scale we all know which has 2 consecutive half steps and is by no means obscure, this blues scale: 1-b3-4-b5-5-b7 Cheers, Alex
