Members hdwin Posted August 3, 2005 Members Posted August 3, 2005 I'm right handed and I'm practising barre chord progressions and my left forearm is real sore. I'm guessing I'm cupping my hand to much. Any thoghts or pointers?
Members social Posted August 3, 2005 Members Posted August 3, 2005 If it hurts, its probably bad. People always seem to really clamp down when playing barres, and you really don't need to. Relax your hand a little, pause several times while playing to make sure its absolutely as relaxed as possible, and only for a few minutes a day to build up those muscles. Pain is bad, discomfort is normal (at first).
Members can't remember Posted August 3, 2005 Members Posted August 3, 2005 Think of resting your barre on the fretboard and let gravity do the work. Instead of squeezing the juice out of the neck, let the weight of your hand push the strings down and your let your thumb be more of a guide. :jb
