Members adamsj Posted August 13, 2005 Members Posted August 13, 2005 If you changed string gauges you've upset the balance of the set up the guitar had to begin with -- the balancing act between the strength of the strings vs. the strength of your truss rod (the metal rod that runs through the middle of your neck. You may be able to resolve the problem by raising your bridge saddles slightly, which you may want to attempt yourself. You probably should not mess with the truss rod yourself. Might be time to take your guitar to your local store for a "set up," (which usually includes a new set of strings. This should be between $15 and $40, and most guitars need it once a year or so (depending on how many hours you put on the guitar). If nothing else, take it to your local store or repairman and get their opinion on the buzz.
Members tuvokzeta9 Posted August 13, 2005 Members Posted August 13, 2005 It could be: The nut is worn out a little. If you replace it use bone, do not use plastic. Bone sounds the best. There could be a high fret. There could be not enough releif in the neck. The A string may not be osciliating correctly... if it was kinked at some point. Have a pro look at it. You may want to get a bone nut anyway... it will improve the sound of the guitar greatly.
