Members DerekDRP Posted August 25, 2005 Members Posted August 25, 2005 Hi all. Now i am a total nuub when it comes to be reading sheet music ( I am learning slowly but shirlie.) anways if a note seeems to be long liek in the second picture what does that mean? and for 2 short notes on the first picture ( does that mean you play the note twice on the same fret )?
Members Little Dreamer Posted August 25, 2005 Members Posted August 25, 2005 There are little dots under the tablature - in the first line there's a 7, then three dots, then an 8, then three dots. Tap your foot to those. Keep a steady beat. Then just look at where the notes are in relation to your foot tapping. In the first line, every other note falls right on a foot tap, the others are halfway in between. So you'd play the 3rd fret low E string as your foot hit the floor, then the same note again as your foot came up, then the 2nd fret A string as your foot came down, same note again as it came up, etc. (Yes, you play the same note twice in a row). If there's a line after the note, I imagaine you play the note until the line ends. So in the first line, you'd quit playing halfway through the second measure. In the second line, you would hold a couple of those notes twice as long as the others.
