Members EmeraldAcid Posted September 14, 2005 Members Posted September 14, 2005 Hey guys, Has anyone here heard of Guthrie Govan? http://www.tonemerchants.com/Guthrie_Govan_Clips.htm If you watch any of those clips youll notice this guy has amazing fusion chops. Same with scott henderson. But anyways, i cannot seem to find any instructional DVD's or books out there that teach licks like this other than the scott henderson DVD. If you guys can point me in the right direction id probobly write you a check for a million dollars. Thanks
Poparad Posted September 14, 2005 Posted September 14, 2005 There is a wealth of material out there or jazz playing you should check out. Fusion is really just jazz played with more electric instruments over different beats, so it is critical to have a solid understanding of the jazz that fusion came from in order to properly play in the style. Fusion uses the same phrasing and harmonic language, so check out some books or dvds on regular straight ahead jazz and be sure to listen to a lot of that as well.
