Members trans_am Posted December 5, 2005 Members Posted December 5, 2005 I've been unsure about this for a long time. What do you all find to be the most effective hand position (left/fretting hand) for doing trills? Do you keep your thumb behind the neck (classical style) Or do you use a more rock position with the thumb resting on top of the neck like you would for bending? Say you are doing fast trills or two handed tapping, which position do you select for your left hand?

Members bardsley Posted December 6, 2005 Members Posted December 6, 2005 With trills on the 1st and second finger, or the 1st and third, it doesn't really matter where your thumb is. I think you should try to keep your thumb behind the neck anyway, but not becuase of trilling. If you're doing a 3rd and 4th finger tril (rare), I think you'd definitely need your thumb behind the neck.
