Members guitguy26 Posted February 9, 2006 Members Posted February 9, 2006 Hi, I'm thinking about supplementing my income by teaching guitar out of my home. I'm just wondering what a fair price to charge would be. One point is that I'm going to be focussing on the college student market so I'd want my lessons to be affordable. Another reason why I'm not sure what to charge is that I have no formal teaching experience or qualifications. I do, however, have 14 years of playing under my belt with a lot of technical knowledge as well as and a very strong grasp of music theory. So I beleive I could give a student their money's worth for a lesson. So, how much would be a fair price to charge for an unproven teacher?
Members JeffFlowerday Posted February 9, 2006 Members Posted February 9, 2006 I'd say $12.50 per half hour. That's $50 per month, 4 week months. .02

Members mrlucky7 Posted February 9, 2006 Members Posted February 9, 2006 I called all the music schools and guitar teachers in my area before deciding on a price to be competitive. I charge 20-25$ an hour and get a lot of requests. Teaching to beginers is fun but does demand a lot of patience !
