Members gennation Posted April 1, 2006 Members Posted April 1, 2006 Sounds like you're on the right path. You're playing nice and clean. Your sound is bitey and would cut through nicely. Although, I would roll back some of the gain, that's just me though. There's something about the chords/song that remains me of some 80's guitar pop, like Gary Myrick, or maybe The Knack or something. You might try laying of the solo and working on some vocal melodies or something and see if you can develop it into a tune.

Members gennation Posted April 1, 2006 Members Posted April 1, 2006 Very cool. It definitely sounds like you are on the right track then. From just the clip I was under the impression of the "kid's solo song". You know what I mean, all wank and no music So, I'm glad to thear this was a solo for a full blown song Post it up when you get a recording.I didn't mean to stereo-type the sing at all, that was just my "gathering" from a quick listen.

Members Auggie Doggie Posted April 1, 2006 Members Posted April 1, 2006 Listening to the clip, the one thing that I really wish was there was a drum beat or a click track to sort out the timing a bit! There seems to be some rhythmic ambiguity...BUT, you doubled the part, and did so pretty well, so your consistency is good. Criticisms: the last note of your second phrase (around the 9-10 second mark, with the pedal point line) is just hanging in space. I'd try the next scale step down to resolve it better. Also, the first set of sweeps was good, but when you return to that figure at the end of the solo, it was kind of a letdown. Maybe try a simpler, more directly ascending line to build up the energy?I'm guessing you're a big Randy Rhoads fan? By the way, if I didn't know that was a POD, I wouldn't have known it was a POD.

LOL but i took it out, cuz i hate hearing a clip with a click...one of my friends, who i also collaborate with, is going to give me an old keyboard of his to do drum tracks with...so soon i will be able to do entire songs! as soon as i figure the whole drum thing out...ive never been very good at that stuff LOL but with practice i should pick it up. so yea, i doubled the parts, a little off in a place or two, but with the click track it was much easier to do (in the past ive doubled sans click tracks!!! so i have some practice with it...)comments on criticisms : ok...ill add another note in there with the pedal lick...i thought it was kinda hangin' as well, and i wanted to see if anyone would notice...you did... so yea, ill fix that! and the last set of sweeps...ill work with it, maybe start out with the first two sweeps, then do an ascending line to finish the solo? hows that sound? ill try it out and see what happens if that doesnt work...ill just do some speedy ascending line...LOL experimentation...gotta love it! and yes, i LOVE Randy! he was and still is one of my biggest influences...i always loved how his solos said something, or had a melody, or actually had purpose...not like some solos that are just wanky. i like to have a beginning, middle, and end to a solo...something to kick it off, something in the middle thats interesting, and something at the end that just goes WHHHHHHHOOOOOOAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!! you know what i mean im sure LMAO! and it seems im doing good with the Pod recording i added some guitar tracks to 2 of the 3 songs on my band's demo, since i always thought they were too thin sounding...and i let my buddy hear a clip of one of them and he was like "dude, if i didnt know you used the Pod, i wouldnt have known it was one..." so i guess it really is that good...or im just good at using it? LOL Thanks Auggie! just remember, that what you heard was in a big way possible because of you and your speed series!!! without that, i probably wouldnt be as good as i am now...and im still not as good as i want to be, so keep putting that stuff out! oh and i still gotta get your book...been taking care of stuff that needs taking care of since i finally got a job LOL im sure you know how that can be...getting the car a tune-up, paying my mom back for the car payment(s) she made for me, etc. soon though...i need to learn more, need to get better...your speed series isnt enough! LOL again thanks...i really appreciate the comments
