Members dan_plus_o Posted May 28, 2006 Members Posted May 28, 2006 does anyone know any good books that cover everything in guitar playing? I want a book to freshin up all my music theory and study it more so I understand it better. I also want a book that covers everything so I can use it to teach. I like heavy metal... so if you know any books that teach from the ground up and are based on heavy metal that would be sweet.
Members dastardlydrvish Posted May 29, 2006 Members Posted May 29, 2006 The Guitar Player's Handbook by Ralph Denyer covers everything from basic scale/ chord theory to how to wind a pickup. Very comprehensive and Probably a good choice if you're looking to find many of the basics in a sinlge book.

Members raggety Posted May 30, 2006 Members Posted May 30, 2006 the guitar cookbook is very good. its not Metal based but is full of useful theory.http://www.jessegress.com/
Members Paragraph51 Posted May 31, 2006 Members Posted May 31, 2006 The Compleat Guitarist, a UK publication is quite good for anyone not exceptionally advanced, and has a lot of good information and ideas and concepts for all skill and knowledge levels up to advanced players. A formally trained and accomplished virtuoso would not have a need for it, but a good many players would find it a valuable book to have and read.
Members telesan Posted May 31, 2006 Members Posted May 31, 2006 The Guitar Player's Handbook by Ralph Denyer:thu: Great Book...it got me started when it came out years ago. Fretboard Logic Vol. 1&2 would probally be good also. Vol. 3 covers theory.
