Cmaj9 --0-- --0-- --7-- --5-- --3-- ----- That falls pretty naturally. You can use either the middle orring finger to cover the 5.The 8/5/7/6/ that Moggo tabbed is reachable if you skewyour hand like a violinist would. On guitar your elbow wouldbe tucked into your ribs, your index and middle fingersangled towards the nut, and the ring and pinkie angledtoward the bridge.Sounds like your hands are a little weak is all. I remembernot being able to play 5ths (the 3/5 s for instance) for morethan 20 seconds. So it's just something you gotta develop.I remember reading somewhere that guitar takes 40 lbs offorce per finger. You know that aint gonna happen over night.

I can play it without having to contort my fingers and weird way or moving my elbow. By pointing your fingers at angle (and in opposite directions too ) causes a lot of tension on the hand, which could potentially be harmful if forced too much. Also, violinists don't skew their fingers. I'm not sure where you're getting that from.
