Members Hopeless Romantic Posted August 18, 2006 Members Posted August 18, 2006 I am looking for a good book for getting better at playing different rythyms. I have issues figuring out what strumming patern is being used a lot of the time. Any books for learning a whole bunch of strumming patterns and how they can be used effectively?
Members Stackabones Posted August 18, 2006 Members Posted August 18, 2006 You might enlist the help of a teacher if you're having problems identifying rhythms by ear. Maybe check out this book. The "look inside" feature will give an idea of what's in there. While I'm not familiar with this book, I am familiar with the author's Latin Guitar, which is a good introduction to latin rhythms. Hope this helps!
Members Virgman Posted August 19, 2006 Members Posted August 19, 2006 This book is a good one but might be hard to find. It's out of print but still available at times. Try B&N or Amazon under out-of-print. "Rhythm Guitar" by Harvey Vinson.

Members Jeff AMM Posted August 19, 2006 Members Posted August 19, 2006 Hopeless Romantic, you didn't mention your playing level or style so I don't know what might suit you exactly, but check out the Rhythm Guitar bin for items on rhythms. You might like Essential Rhythm Guitar which covers guitar rhythm for a number of styles. If you don't find what you're looking for, feel free to message me.
