I just got the Instructional DVD from dolphinstreet.com last night, and I wanted to let everyone know about it. It's a really great DVD to learn some techniques, and actual songs. I just really think this is a perfect instructional DVD for a guitarist who's got about 2-3 months of playing time building basic chord forms and has a really basic foundation, but can't quite "play" yet. I've been learning seriously for just about 3 months, and I'm able to play a few songs, and a few simple solos, but having this DVD to teach me how to play great songs like Cold Shot, Back in Black, Sweet Home Alabama and the classic Johnny Be Goode. Being able to play actual, recognizable songs is the reason I picked up the guitar in the first place, and this DVD is just great.

A lot of the other DVDs I've seen are either entirely too basic - like the For Dummies DVD or don't really teach you how to play real songs, they just give you "in the style of" or teach you songs like Michael Rowed the Boat ashore, stuf you'd only play in Bible class, not on stage at a bar or club.

And it's a great deal at $26 including shipping till the end of the year. A perfect Christmas present for the beginning guitarist on your list!

Just to be clear - I don't know Robert Renman at all, nor do I have anything to do with Dolphinstreet.com. I just think it's a really great DVD.
