Members puppiesaresmall Posted January 16, 2007 Members Posted January 16, 2007 What has your experiences been with them? Specifically ones that are meant for beginners? Do they offer anything that the internet wouldn't have?
Members BarneyGumbel Posted January 16, 2007 Members Posted January 16, 2007 My experience is that some are ok, and some are unbelievably bad. I really hate the ones where the guy shows how to play the minor pentatonic scale, then proceeds on a super-fast, poorly explained wank-fest. The best DVDs I've used are from Riff Interactive.
Members eddidaz Posted January 16, 2007 Members Posted January 16, 2007 I'm sure you can find everything you need on youtube these days. In fact, when I first started playing about 5 years ago there were videos on cyberfret.com that were pretty damn helpful.
Members puppiesaresmall Posted January 17, 2007 Author Members Posted January 17, 2007 Thanks much for the responses, glad I didn't pick one up. Though I am having a hard time learning how to progress quickly, there seems to be so much to learn, it's hard to get a sense of direction. I guess I'll just learn more songs and stuff. Also start learning scales.
Members Eddie Posted January 17, 2007 Members Posted January 17, 2007 Accelerate Your Guitar Playing, by Tomo Fujita, is great for guitar players of all levels.
