Help me figure out what these chords are

I'm still in the very beginning of learning music theory and I have a question about chord names. If someone could tell me how to find the chords names to the notes below I would really appreciate it. I understand how to find basic chords, but these appear to be a bit more involved.

Standard tuning

So the chords are G B F A and Ab D F A right?

After that I don't know what to do.

I would call the first chord a G9. The formula for 9 chords is 1-3-5-b7-9, where the 5 is optional. This chord is in root position, meaning the lowest note of the chord is the root note, and the 5 has been omitted.

The second chord is a Bbmaj7 (1-3-5-7). It is the same shape as the open chord Fmaj7, just moved up to Bb. It is also in root position.

Let me know if you want more info on figuring out foreign chords.

Ah jeez louise, those were simple. :freak: I forgot about the dominant chord and I don't know why I couldn't figure out the 2nd one. Thanks.

How about this chord

B 3

G 2

D 1

A 3

C Eb A D

It could be Cm6 (with a natural 6, A... Cm(b6) is the one with an Ab).

It could also be F13 without the root, or fifth (common in jazz).

It could also be Am11(b5) (like a ii chord in G minor).

All of these chords are found in the Bb major/G minor scales.
