Members atomicfear Posted July 12, 2007 Members Posted July 12, 2007 When I move down the fretboard (past 12) I have a hard time keeping my wrist bent and forward. I do the right technique at the low end of the board, but when I start to solo I have a tendency to want to hang my thumb on the top of the board. What is the proper hand/wrist position when in the high octave? Thanks
Moderators Jed Posted July 12, 2007 Moderators Posted July 12, 2007 Same as in the lower register. The trick is to get the over height right so that you can angle the neck up for low register stuff and lower the headstock a bit for the higher register work. (at least that's one man's opinion . . )
Members Knottyhed Posted July 12, 2007 Members Posted July 12, 2007 What is the proper hand/wrist position when in the high octave? Thanks I'd say the one that's comfortable... I personally find I can maintain better 'form' if I have the headstock angled up at around 45degrees (is that what Jedl is saying?). So if the guitar is strapped on, i angle it up and if I am sitting down I place it over the left knee (classical style). I just find playing up/down the whole neck is alot more comfortable that way.

I aim for the same angle - 45
