Members Mooska Posted September 3, 2007 Members Posted September 3, 2007 I've heard mixed things. Some of my friends who've put in the time to learn it say it's a waste of time learning it and it's nothing more that a showboat piece. That said, the reason they learned it was because thats was an assignment given at their college meaning it probably had some value to the instructor who assigned it. Should I put in the hours to learn this repetitive monstrosity or is it really a waste of time?

If you can play it at a decent pace then you've got some good alt picking chops. It's certainly not a waste of time and apart from that I'm not sure what's wrong with something being a 'showboat' piece? Learning 'showboat pieces' is how I put together alot of my chops...
Members Dubb Posted September 3, 2007 Members Posted September 3, 2007 I learned it purely as an exercise. I liked it because it was an alt. picking workout which happened to be a lot more catchy than some of the rote finger exercises out there - and hence I was a bit more motivated to practice it.
