Members Oaksong Posted February 11, 2008 Members Posted February 11, 2008 I really want to attack music theory, but I find reading about it puts me to sleep. Also, I am more of a visual style learner. I would love to see/hear someone play something and have exercises that will help drill concepts into my head in a productive way. Is there a video series that achieves this well? I learned a ton of technique from the metal method series, something setup like that would be fantastic.
Members gennation Posted February 11, 2008 Members Posted February 11, 2008 Even if someone does a video on it you will still need to read. With all the note names, combinations, terms, etc...you won't avoid reading.

Members Oaksong Posted February 11, 2008 Author Members Posted February 11, 2008 I had a guitar teacher. I spent 160 bucks over two months trying to learn to read standard musical notation. Meh. I am not looking to be a concert musician, I want a shortcut to "good enough".
