Members Sheesack Posted May 1, 2008 Members Posted May 1, 2008 I have a Roland AC 60 hooked up to my guitar and I was wanting to connect my PC through the stereo jacks to the two bannana plugs in the back of the amp so I could mix MP3s with the guitar during practice. My problem is as soon as I connect the stereo jack I get a square waveish oscillating noise through the amp. I've tried shortening the cables and routing cables far away from other power supplies to no avail. Are there shielded cable options? Any ideas on filters or other suggestions?
Members mugwump Posted May 2, 2008 Members Posted May 2, 2008 You probably have a ground loop going on, but your description really doesn't give me enough of a picture of your setup. Also, if you have a CRT monitor for your PC it will generate noise that your pickups will conduct - escpecially if they are single-coils. I have a setup for practice/recording that works pretty well. It goes like this: Guitar->effects->amp->mixer (I bring in other outboard stuff like drum machines or mics here)->sound card (I use an Echo Gina 3G)-> PC. The sound card outputs to studio monitors. The PC can be used to record or play back, and everything comes out the monitors.
