Spice up your scales practice and learn some new patterns that you can use. Once you get the idea make up your own too. Apply them to this position or other scale positions on the fretboard. Do this with the pentatonic scale too. Get a few variations under your belt and work up to speed. Pick it anyway you like. I alternate pick it.
