Members W.bat Posted October 28, 2008 Members Posted October 28, 2008 Hey crew. I put together a new tool in the last couple of days. Awesome for practicing and heaps of fun. First I put a down a really general track of chord progressions such as G and C carried over a set number (12 or 24 or whatever) of bars varying the strumming. I have this written out on a music stand when I play. I use a metronome in an ear piece so I get the timing right. I record this on a digital recorder. Then I plug in the recorder with the same earpiece and work through my pentotonic scales (thanks virgman) in the appropriate key whilst listening to the strummed track. At this point it is really simple but I envisage it will get far more complex as my skill picks up and my understanding (thanks gennation) of these scales increases. I'm sure it's nothing new but it is to me. It was easy to do with just a couple of toys and it ties together rythynm, scales, chords and it's just so much fun. It makes you responsible for the basic track and lets you choose what you want to work on in a controlled way. If it sounds like fun give it a go. You can feel the progresion.
Members jonPhillips Posted October 28, 2008 Members Posted October 28, 2008 This is a thoroughly good way to practice
