Members gennation
Speaking of Coltrane, I think that this is really, really beautiful: Oh yes.
Members gennation
Not that this sounds like Coltrane but it's an example of many of things I've been talking about in thread with the A Mixo->A Lyd Dom->A H-W->A Mixo scale ideas. It also shows the use of: A Mixo, C Mixo, Eb Mixo, F# MixoA, Lyd Dom, C Lyd, Dom, Eb Lyd Dom, F# Lyd DomA H-W, C H-W, Eb H-W, F# H-WAs well as some A Whole Tone (and derivatives)A little A Phrygian Dom too... all over a straight A7 chord. 1utjgFScgBE Again, I'm not saying this sounds like Coltrane but I have found many of these parallel in tunes/licks of his I've learn. Also, I'm changing the A7 chord I'm playing but am ONLY using R, M3, and b7...NO 5ths. This way there is less clashing but also allows you to hear everything from the Root and allows you to exploit that tritone of the M3 and b7. I'm using the chord fragments I posted in an earlier post.
Members TheGareth
That clip reminded me a lot of Shawn Lane when he was playing with Jonas Hellborg and the Vinayakrams. Nice stuff.
Members gennation
I can get no where near the speed Shawn had, man he was amazing! I need to do a Lydian Dominant tutorial sometime but some of the diminished stuff going on in that clip is presented in this tutorial: http://mikedodge.freeforums.org/some-thoughts-on-copping-that-jimmy-herring-diminished-vibe-t6.html?sid=5e8c85b6351972029d1e069382a93674 if you're interested.
