Members TheGareth Posted March 4, 2009 Members Posted March 4, 2009 Hey guys, I came up with some licks tonight for you all! ^ This is a basic 5 note pattern in C#m. I was thinking of Shawn Lane when I came up with this one. I guess it would work over E major too, but I like how it sits over a minor chord. ^ This is my attempt at an outside sounding E half/whole lick. I'd probably play this over an E7, or perhaps a B7. ^ This is a lick I'd play over a G7 chord before going to the C7 chord. I am thinking of a G# melodic minor scale here. What do you guys think? Any creative criticism is welcome.

Members mosiddiqi Posted March 7, 2009 Members Posted March 7, 2009 Hey Gareth, I liked the first one particularly...the 5 note grouping sounds really cool...nice displacement over a straight 4/4 rock backing.

Thanks man - I like those 5 note groupings. Your ear expects to hear a typical 16th note pattern but the extra note really throws it out.
