Members 1001gear Posted August 20, 2009 Members Posted August 20, 2009 Anybody know what this --> ? thing is? It's all over the Changes page.
Members mosiddiqi Posted August 20, 2009 Members Posted August 20, 2009 Anybody know what this --> ? thing is? It's all over the Changes page. If I've understood you right...you need Adobe Acrobat reader to open the doc..in notepad it just looks like a lot of ?
Members 1001gear Posted August 20, 2009 Members Posted August 20, 2009 Sorry it's on the web page. It shows on IE as well. Strange characters should be checked. Anyone else have it?
Members Virgman Posted August 20, 2009 Author Members Posted August 20, 2009 Don't know what your seeing. Do you have Adobe Acrobat Reader? It's free from Adobe.com. Go to their site and download it. You need it to view .pdf files. http://get.adobe.com/reader/
Members girevik Posted August 20, 2009 Members Posted August 20, 2009 Great find, Virgman! The three scale choices per chord type are a nice start for beginning improvisers and the chord sub chart is a nice reference by itself.
Members nuclear arsenal Posted August 21, 2009 Members Posted August 21, 2009 that just looked like a hundred+ pages of scales with no text.

It seems to sub for hyphens and some spaces.
Members GreenAsJade Posted August 21, 2009 Members Posted August 21, 2009 How can you "check what a PDF is" without "grabbing the PDF"?! that just looked like a hundred+ pages of scales with no text. The text instructions are at the end. I'm thinking you have to be more of a theory/standard notation kinda person than I am to benefit from this though... I might check back over it after I finish Sin's Apprentice. GaJ
Members 1001gear Posted August 21, 2009 Members Posted August 21, 2009 How can you "check what a PDF is" without "grabbing the PDF"?! Not the PDF. This --> ? It's an unusual page error and something as small as one pixel can be enough to start a hack. I get it on FF and IE. Just checking.

Members 1001gear Posted August 21, 2009 Members Posted August 21, 2009 It's in the text on the 98changes page. That's the only page that's ever done that and I got it on two different browsers. All the watchdog stuff says the site is ok so as soon as it goes away or I figure it out I'll grab the PDF.
Members nuclear arsenal Posted August 21, 2009 Members Posted August 21, 2009 he actually did every single key for all those scales and chords. damn. he could have done the whole thing in c, saved about 110 pages, and let us transpose it ourselves instead of sifting through a mountain, which is even slower on a pdf. plus the differences would be more readily apparent. and the text was a one page faq and an order form.

All the watchdog stuff says the site is ok so as soon as it goes away or I figure it out I'll grab the PDF. Do you even know what a PDF is? It's not an executable, a flash program, or java applet. It's a file, like a text document or a picture. You can't view the file without downloading and opening the file in Acrobat. If you're getting odd characters, it's either because you're not viewing it in Acrobat (that's why you need the program for it), or you either have an old version of Acrobat or are missing fonts on your computer, and it's compensating with odd characters.
Members 1001gear Posted August 21, 2009 Members Posted August 21, 2009 This is getting funny. I haven't even grabbed the file. I do have a folder full of 'em. Adobe 9 with Java dissed etc. lolz. It's just that oddball character on the front page of 98 changes. It's there in my posts. What is that?

Members 1001gear Posted August 21, 2009 Members Posted August 21, 2009 Yeah just go in with the thread. I'll paste a copy of the page text.

Members girevik Posted August 21, 2009 Members Posted August 21, 2009 Where do you see this? I see now, he's talking about this: http://www.changes98.com/ Last updated 2004. The PDF file itself looks fine to me. I think he's afraid because there are funny symbols on the website, there might be a virus in the PDF.
Members Mr.Bates Posted August 21, 2009 Members Posted August 21, 2009 haaa! what a lack of communication... 1001gear was talking about the website and the others about the PDF
Members 1001gear Posted August 22, 2009 Members Posted August 22, 2009 Yeah, just stumblin about the WWW
