Members Alex_DeLarge Posted September 19, 2009 Members Posted September 19, 2009 I'm a begginer, playing around a year and this is one of my first attempts at getting a song by ear. It's the godfather theme. Here it is what I have got so far, I'd be very thankful if you guys tell me if what I've done until now is correct or wrong to try to figure it out more perfectly. Here's the song if you haven't heard it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=my23rf7OOHY&feature=related Thank you guys!
Members C.Ketola Posted September 20, 2009 Members Posted September 20, 2009 Hi, A few things I noticed by looking at it, I haven't checked with the original if it's the right notes though. The fourth note in the first bar ("11") should be on the first beat on bar 1. Some of the rhythms looks weird to me, but it would probably make more sense if they were placed in the right place (and it would be alot easier to notate and read it). You should probably write it in C# minor instead.
Members Alex_DeLarge Posted September 20, 2009 Author Members Posted September 20, 2009 Yeah, I'm totally noob when it comes to musical notation, I just tried to make it sound good on Guitar Pro. I don't understand what you mean when you say the 11 note should be on the first beat of the first bar. Thanks

Thanks The notes before 11 should be on a pick up meassure, sorta like this: (The first two reds in that picture) The 11 just sounds like it's on the first beat. Sing the tune and stomp a 4/4 pulse with your foot - the natural thing is probably that you sing the 11 on stomp 1. (It would be alot easier to notate it like that anyway.)
Moderators Jed Posted September 20, 2009 Moderators Posted September 20, 2009 It's close but you are making it more complicated than it needs to be:
