Members Frankenstrat86 Posted October 19, 2009 Members Posted October 19, 2009 Hey guys I've gotten into reading music as of late. I'm pretty fluid and know what key signature a piece is in based on sharps and flats etc. I just wanted to ask do any of you know of a good book for guitar that is filled with sheet music. There seems to be a lot of books but I'd like to narrow it down. I'd prefer if there were no tabs in the book, but if there is and it's good I'll get it. thanks
Members mcmurray Posted October 20, 2009 Members Posted October 20, 2009 "A modern method for guitar" volumes 1, 2 and 3 by William Leavitt. Highly recommended - if you can sight read all the chord etudes you're doing well. Plus it'll teach you a {censored} load about the instrument that you didn't already know. http://www.amazon.com/Modern-Method-Guitar-Volumes-Complete/dp/0876390114/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1255997913&sr=8-1 No TAB either, which is great. Once you've mastered that, this one is supposedly excellent; http://www.amazon.com/Melodic-Rhythms-Guitar-William-Leavitt/dp/0634013327/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1255997975&sr=1-3

If you're looking for ones that don't contain tabs you'll probably want to look for piano song books or something like that. The only problem is they are going to be piano parts, not the guitar parts. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Actually, now that I think about, I hardly contributed anything, so why'd I reply at all? Meh.
