Members girevik Posted October 30, 2009 Members Posted October 30, 2009 Hybrid Picking is a well-known solution to the problem of switching back and forth between playing with a plectrum(pick) and playing fingerstyle. However, some guitarists look for other solutions, from "palming" the pick to sticking it in the mouth for a while, to using a thumbpick on the thumb. Alternative #1 - Put the thumbpick on the index finger instead of the thumb (bonus: dude speaks with Yngwie-ish accent): Alternative #2 - Get a JamKat: http://pick-smith.com/ Demo vid:

I did that for a while until I nearly swallowed one onstage. *choke* A friend of mine used to drill a hole in his pick and then stick a rubber band through it and tie it to his middle finger. He found just the perfect length so he could let go of the pick to finger pick, and the pick wouldn't get in the way, and yet when he clasped his fingers they would grab the pick.
