Members Alex_DeLarge Posted November 27, 2009 Members Posted November 27, 2009 I've always found pretty fun that kind of music just to just jam around a little like this: But I don't know any of the basics, I know the term "chiken-pickin'" that is like the hybrid pickin its used in country style. Anyone got any tips for me, like scales that are used in country? Thanks
Poparad Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Anyone got any tips for me, like scales that are used in country? The same ones that make up just about every style of music: the major and scale and the pentatonic scale. Just try sitting down and learning some licks. As you learn more, you'll make your own connections as to how to play those scales to sound country. Also, as with most styles, it's not the scale that makes the style, but the instruments, tone of the instruments, rhythms, harmony, and other such things are really where the important differences lie.

At around 0:50 in particular the wheels kinda came off for a while! Country falls into one of my least favourite categories, but I did enjoy the first "shred country" clip GaJ
Members Alex_DeLarge Posted November 27, 2009 Author Members Posted November 27, 2009 Yes Buckethead was kinda sucky but it was to make my point I don't like country either, just that kind of "soloing" to have fun for a while.

Except I have so much else to learn, and so little time to learn it BUT (thinks!) my singer _hates_ country. Hmmm might be onto something here GaJ
Members Alex_DeLarge Posted November 27, 2009 Author Members Posted November 27, 2009 This last month I also had little time to practice and play, but in a week I go into summer vacation so I have almost 3 months of no university, oh yeah Last year I made good progress on that period, hope I can do the same this year.
