Members davidwebb Posted December 24, 2009 Members Posted December 24, 2009 I actually recorded this to get help with my singing(which sucks) and track my progress with my lessons, however i could'nt help but through in a couple of guitar solos. My roots have been in death metal but i've been doing some blues lately and figure that i could get some help there. PLZ listen to my hunble recording and let me know what you all think. Plz be brutal, i can take it. http://www.myspace.com/plzcritique
Members Jasco Posted December 25, 2009 Members Posted December 25, 2009 Sounds cool to me. Nice tones and note choices. My listening enviroment was a bit noisy and cluttered so I'll have to listen again later. Between that and the lack of rhythm section and the slow tempo, it was a bit hard to hear just how some of the phrasings fit into the groove. Or in otherwords, a rhythm section might make it easier for the listener to understand some of the phrases perhaps (again qualified by all the background noise from holiday activity in my currently listening environment.)
Members 1001gear Posted December 25, 2009 Members Posted December 25, 2009 Kinda raw. The vocal went way sharp. Possibly tasty lead but it needs to lay back more and interact with the acoustic.
Members davidwebb Posted December 25, 2009 Author Members Posted December 25, 2009 ugh...... it's ironic to me that when i think I've sung my best take, it is in fact my worst....The production does suck (almost as bad as my singing, ha ha ha). I hate recording but it seems to become a necessity these days. Ill try to learn more when i record my progress at 8 weeks. Im hoping that maybe a little reverb and deley would make the vocals more palatable however since these recordings are to track vocal progress i'm not sure that would be the best representation. Thanks for the comments. I would love to hear more.
Members GreenAsJade Posted December 25, 2009 Members Posted December 25, 2009 I thought it was pretty reasonable. Definitely a few pitchy vocal bits, and some where it sounds like you have a cold, but it didn't make me grimace at any point. I wonder if Jasco had the left channel with the acoustic in it when he was listening ... there is the sense of groove there, right? The solo guitar tone is really nice. I wish I could do that! GaJ
Members c+t in b Posted December 25, 2009 Members Posted December 25, 2009 buy a metronome and practice with it. also intonate your guitar
Members paulinpoland Posted December 25, 2009 Members Posted December 25, 2009 I tried to listen, but couldn't download Flash Player for some reason. I will try again later. Or you could put an mp3 here.
Members davidwebb Posted December 26, 2009 Author Members Posted December 26, 2009 If i knew how to do mp3's on here i would. And to the people who were impressed with the tone....... it was just a Roland Cube and a $50 epiphony...he he he he
Members TrickyBoy Posted December 26, 2009 Members Posted December 26, 2009 I liked the guitar playing. My only negative is that the tempo was all over the place. I'd definitely recommend the next time you do a recording like this to use a click track to play to, then erase the track at the end. Otherwise, I thought it was pretty cool.
Members Virgman Posted December 26, 2009 Members Posted December 26, 2009 Not bad at all. You have a pretty good voice. It could be more polished of course but considering factors it ain't bad a'tall.
