I'm going over this song for a little while now, spending some time going over it on my off time and I am really stuck on what this is.

@3:35 the solo comes in and probably spent an hour slowing it down and for some reason I can't translate it to the fretboard. The roots are pretty simple...

C E A# D

I even tried looking at a live video but this guy is just too insane and changes it up seamlessly. Total mindblock on this one...anyone help me figure out these notes?

and I apologize in advance if this is the wrong forum for this!

I don't have my guitar, but he using srting skipping. They are arps of the chord and its harmonies.

If no one else figures it out before tonight I'll it for you. It doesn't sound very hard at all. The first note he's playing is th Root of the chord then try the 3, 5, 6 7 or 9 for the next note.

Anyone know a keyboard or guitar app for the blackberry? I'd have the notes in a second.

I am definitely not saying this is where he's playing it, I'm just guessing at the fingerings/positions, but they are the notes he plays for the first chord. I learned it from the keyboard in Transcribe!

Sounds like he's at least tuned down to Drop D if not further. You can check the rest of the tune to determine that. Here's it is in a nutshell, use your ears to tell where he's playing it:

E--------------------------------

B--------------------------------

G--------------------------------

D--------------------------------

A--------------------------------

E--0--0--8--8--0--0--7--7--5--5--

E--------------------------------

B--------------------------------

G--------------------------------

D--------------------------------

A--------7--7--------5--5--3--3--

E--3--3--------3--3--------------

This one is definitely an octave lower, so he's at least been using Drop D to this point. Play it with an open low D string and move those other notes an octave lower too:

E--------------------------------

B--------------------------------

G--------------------------------

D---------8--8--------7--7--3--3-

A---5--5--------5--5-------------

E--------------------------------

E--------------------------------

B--------------------------------

G--------------------------------

D--------------------------------

A--------5--5--------3--3--2--2--

E--1--1--------1--1--------------

Thanks so much! He uses a 5 string bass so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Now I just need to practice to get that kind of speed, he sometimes uses a pick and sometimes doesn't.

Does it sound right? Like I said, I pulled it out by playing it on the keyboard in Transcribe. If not, or if you have any other questions on it, let me know. I'm home for the night and can always dig into it.

It's good enough for me, from what i've been playing it seems like it's pretty accurate, I've just been adpating them a little bit. I'll be sure to give you some cred when I write this whole tab out!

well if you want to help me finish this, there is only one thing left I need to translate.

same song...trying to figure out what kinda slap technique he is using around :27 does he just trip on the c note a little then move to the d? I have no clue and confuses the heck out of me.
