Members polishpaul Posted January 9, 2011 Members Posted January 9, 2011 I've been putting up threads recently about sight-reading and composition, and have just come across MuseScore composition and notation editor. I was very surprised to discover that it opens various Band-in-a-Box song files, although will not export them in that format, as far as I can see. There are loads in all genres on the net, usually free from enthusiastic BIAB users and groups. And, once you have the notation in front of you, you can shift notes around by 'drag and drop'.........another great way to experiment with music and see what you can come up with. Try importing a favourite tune, and change a couple of notes - you'll quickly see how music works! Go to: http://musescore.org/ If you are studying music, I recommend you get it. The program also supports midi , cap and MusicXML files (and the same compressed), and will export to those, plus PDF, PNG graphic, wav, ogg, ps, svg, Lilypond and others. Available in 26 languages! Nice planet, sometimes ! PS: You'll need the handbook.......to change the tempo you have to go to Display/Play Panel........that's the same place you'll find the reverb and chorus settings, and instrument selection. http://musescore.org/en/handbook
