Members Bad B. Posted February 20, 2011 Members Posted February 20, 2011 Hello, I've made my own blog with lessons and articles about jazz. First lesson is about learning the ols standard "How high the moon". Hope you'll check it out and let me know what you think Best www.guitarbjorn.blogspot.com
Members polishpaul Posted February 20, 2011 Members Posted February 20, 2011 A useful analysis of the song, there, Bad B. Thanks! I'd suggest you make more use of paragraphs to break up the text, so the reader isn't looking at big blocks of words. And maybe do the chord names in bold? Simple things like that would make it look better, I think. Check around other blogs to see how other bloggers set out their text....you might see something you'd like to use yourself. Good luck with it. I've got you bookmarked!
Members junkyard bennie Posted February 20, 2011 Members Posted February 20, 2011 Like the color of the blog. One thing about jazz is "how are they actually playing the chords. I think for an improvement you might have chord charts. Looks like a very good start though.
Members ednakayama Posted February 21, 2011 Members Posted February 21, 2011 Nice stuff. One suggestion - post clips of yourself playing. That's what gets people excited about what you have to say, because they are thinking "I like the way that he plays - I wonder how he got to where he is/I wonder what he's doing...maybe I'll find the answer by reading his blog." I like to think that I play at a level that resonates with some people aesthetically, and this might be why someone would read me or take anything I say seriously. When I read playing advice, I know that learning it is a commitment, and I don't want to spend that time if I don't have any reason to think it will pay off.
Members Bad B. Posted February 21, 2011 Author Members Posted February 21, 2011 Thanks for the feedback guys! really appreciate it!@ Polishpaul. Good advice about checkin' other blogs out, I'll do that@ Junkyard bennie; thanks. Not quite sure what you mean with "how are they actually playing the chords" ?@ ednakayama. You're right. I hope to get some clips up soon where I demonstrate the thinks I talk aboutAny comments on the language are also very welcome. English my second language and really want to improve it..Have a nice nice day
Members GreenAsJade Posted February 21, 2011 Members Posted February 21, 2011 JB means "what fingering did they choose - what notes on which strings". If you stick at it, you might want to add your blog here. GaJ
