Members Alex_DeLarge Posted February 27, 2011 Members Posted February 27, 2011 I think it might be e minor at first but after a couple verses I think it changes. Any clues?? thanks! the link to the song: http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10330538
Members jamesp Posted February 27, 2011 Members Posted February 27, 2011 It's in D. (D, Bm, G, A-ish) the G is kinda Em-ish Then there's that beautiful bridge of F#7, Bm, G, D, F#7, Bm, G, E and back to verse. Or some variation of those chords. But it's in D for sure.

Otherwise I agree - D major for the rest.

Just to have a second opinion thanks!
Members JonR Posted March 1, 2011 Members Posted March 1, 2011 Would you mind to listen to the track please ? Just to have a second opinion thanks! Sure - Last time, I had no sound on the computer I was on!The main verse section is clear D major. The chords are D - Bm - Gmaj7 - Gmaj7 (no A).The bridge sequence is:|F#/A# - Bm - |A/C# - |D - - - | x2The F# (hardly more than the A# bass note and F# melody note) is a secondary dominant, which has the effect of strengthening the move to Bm, or "tonicising" it briefly. That bar is followed immediately by the same change in the home key, returning it to D major.Ie, F#/A# - Bm = V-I in B minor (V chord in 1st inversion);A/C# - D = V-I in D major (V chord in 1st inversion).IOW, it's not really key of B minor as I though, because F# and Bm don't last long enough for Bm to be heard as a new key centre. The F# chord is "V/vi" - secondary dominant of the vi chord of D.(In fact the "F#" chord is so minimal it's merely implied. It could equally be seen as a partial vii chord of Bm: A#dim7.)
