Members Virgman Posted February 8, 2012 Members Posted February 8, 2012 Many of you have recently congratulated me on achieving the vaunted 12,000 post milestone. Thank you. I can't believe it myself. From where I began with my first post in 2005 to this magical moment has been an incredible journey and I could not have done it without all of you. You are the best! I would like to caution the youth of this board that their time could be better spent studying in school and preparing themselves for a more statistically possible goal than making posts on Harmony Central in the hopes of becoming a forum legend as I have done. Only a very small percentage of those joining this board can hope to achieve what I have accomplished with my natural immense drive and talent. For the rest, their lives will be wasted. They will end up frittering away their youth in the pursuit of an impossible dream. Stay in school. Study. Become an accountant. Marry a nice, churchgoing woman. Have sex with her twice a month. Live a simple life. You have no chance basically.

Moderators Jed Posted February 8, 2012 Moderators Posted February 8, 2012 Virgman, You are my idol. You are 10 times the poster I could ever be. Maybe with some professional instruction I can break into the 1,300+ territory ? Any advice? cheers, Jed ;-)

Maybe with some professional instruction I can break into the 1,300+ territory ? Any advice?cheers,Jed ;-) Ok Jed. I will give you some tips. First, use a metronome. Always. Use a tempo you can post to without mistakes. Go very slowly and be accurate with spelling, punctuation, etc. Speed will come. Secondly, transcribe the posts of the greats. Those with over 12,000 posts. Analyze their timing, cadence, style. Steal their posts, make them your own. And third, write down your posting goals. Begin with a goal you can achieve, say 2 posts a day, and gradually build up your posting. There. Practice posting everyday. Post with others if you can. Post in different forums like the Electric Guitar Forum, Guitar Jam, perhaps even try a few posts in the Amp Forum if you feel like a challenge. Good luck.

Members Virgman Posted February 8, 2012 Author Members Posted February 8, 2012 It's not easy being me but someone has to do it.
Members JonR Posted February 9, 2012 Members Posted February 9, 2012 It's not easy being me but someone has to do it.Yes, if you didn't exist, we'd need to build you by committee. It would take a suite of top-class programmers, and a steady supply of beer, I'm guessing.
Members Virgman Posted February 9, 2012 Author Members Posted February 9, 2012 Beer for sure. A round for all! Sprites for the non-imbibers. The small glass is for Mo as he is the designated driver.

Members Virgman Posted February 10, 2012 Author Members Posted February 10, 2012 Gosh! I'm sure many of these tips could be applied to learning guitar! I didn't hear back from Jed so he is probably practicing posting on other forums. When he comes back here no doubt he will have become much better. Now if I could just get Jeremy to put in more effort...
