Members polishpaul Posted March 7, 2012 Members Posted March 7, 2012 (Download links in Post #4) I've attached a demo video to give you an idea of the quality. In this video I say that one minute of video with sound needed about 1MB. In fact the demo is 1m 38s long and is exactly 1MB in size. I know some teach by Skype and other remote methods. Some might find this a useful extension to their tools kit. The files are small enough to send quickly during a Skype lesson and attach to an email. Perhaps you just did a Skype lesson but forgot something important. It takes about five minutes to produce a two minute desktop tutorial in which you could show your student something you'd missed out but want them to see before the next lesson....gotta keep 'em happy . Also handy just for remotely showing someone how something on a computer works. When I've tried the "Share Full Screen" feature in Skype, everything runs down into a freeze-up after a few minutes. This is a good way around that. I used two free programs - CamStudio Recorder and Virtual Dub. It took me a while to configure everything to squeeze the best quality from the smallest file size, but I can post up the settings here if anyone's interested - might save you five hours! Or I could do a tutorial video and post that up - the AVI upload limit here is about 4MB, so that'd give me five or six minutes to show you the settings....plenty of time! Anyway, check out the attached video and see what you think. Note: the video has to be viewed in full screen for visual clarity. I've had good results with Windows Media Player and Irfan View. It's a good idea to close other programs before watching the videos - computer video is a weird business! Also better to download them rather than view from the web. My laptop is old, though....those with faster computers might have an easier life. PS.... The sound quality of my laptop sound card is poor. In the demo the sound is noisy because of that, not any fault of the programs. The sound isn't tragic, though, just not pristine.

It's free and when installed let's you play just about any video format on your computer.
