Members Bobby D
Many many people disagree and think that the shred is the ugly. That is why there are three different models that have three different feels and all together many different looks. the JTV-69 is pretty darn sexy to me
Members richrenken
Rich, Glad you are finally able to communicate about the new Variax II, without us all having to sign an NDA and swear to secrecy! I plan to purchase the tremolo model - although I do wish to test the Les Paul type as well, as that is the platform I'm most used to performing with (24 3/4" scale) We have an independent forum of guitarists who think outside the traditional world of guitarists at Future Guitar Now,and cover aspects of the Variax in our Forums, for sharing tips and tricks. Check it out http://www.futureguitarnow.com/forum/index.phphttp://www.futureguitarnow.com/forum/index.php?action=forumhttp://www.futureguitarnow.com/forum/index.php?board=53.0 I will check it out. One correction above. The JTV-59US and the JTV-59 have a 24 9/16ths scale.

Members elantric
Is the vguitarforums site going to be merged into the futureguitarnow one? Future Guitar Now covers all innovations in Guitar (13 pin, Firewire, Hexaphonic, Moog, MIDI Guitar, High Tech Acoustic, etc) www.futureguitarnow.com VguitarForums will remain focused on serving the Roland V Guitar Systems exclusively. www.vguitarforums.com Also I have more hands on control on the look and feel and storage of documents at FGN, which began as an outgrowth of the Gibson Dark Fire Owner community. Members elantric
I'm most used to performing with (24 3/4" scale) The JTV-59US and the JTV-59 have a 24 9/16ths scale. Interesting - 24 9/16ths = 24.5625", that will allow thicker gauge strings yet retain string bending flexibility, although the shorter scale may be prone to tuning instability. However, Last thing i want is a Fender Jaguar 24"scale" (been there done that, no thanks!) Theres always Warmoth!

Members BmoreTele
It must be the loss of brain cells that is finally catching up with me - but I can't figure out how the magnetic pickups work with the new Variax system.I thought all the modeling was done off the digital signal from the six peizo pups - one per string. Is the modelling now done to a signal from the "real" magnetic pups? Or is there a signal from the mag pups as well as the digital signal?
Members mygolfcart123
There is simply NO WAY I would pay $1,000.00 for a korean made guitar! No way, no how.

The idea is to have the magnetics as a backup. I think its somewhat unneccesary but some clamored for it. I much rather would have had a 13 pin output. Members richrenken
Speaking as a Variax owner and a big Line 6 fan generally, I'm actually a bit disappointed at how little they've done here. The models are exactly the same as the ones in the original, so the only real change / addition in the modelling department is that the more powerful DSPs make the alt tunings less warbly. Other than that, yes, it's nice to have alt tunings on a knob but it was never actually a hardship to plan out and store custom models of stuff you needed on the old Variax. So of course, both fairly nice features, but that really seems to be it for the technology side. There's not enough there for me to justify the price at all. I'm more interested in getting another Variax 1 when they start dumping them cheap to be honest. Au contraire mon frere, here is the list of improvements from my blog a few weeks ago. Plus by now, you can search and see videos all over YouTube from guys who used and loved Vax I about the improved tone. Either you are running magnetics or you are running models and you just push the push/push under the Model knob to switch back and forth.

Related to this, for live playing/gig scenarios, what particular amp or floor-unit is required to run this guitar through/into in order to "broadcast" out the alter-tuning sounds, specific model sounds, etc.? I hope there is an option to do this other than having to run the guitar through a laptop that has Variax Workbench software. Thanks

Thanks I am pretty darn sure that any amp will be fine, your usual guitar amp will be fine. If it is anything like the old Vaxs, it'll work with anything. You only really need Workbench to "tweak" or construct models.
Members POGphile
There is simply NO WAY I would pay $1,000.00 for a korean made guitar! No way, no how.Isn't that what people used to say about Japanese guitars (or cars) back in the 70's or 80's ?That said, I would rather have the American made myself...but 3 grand + it's little out of my reach. BTW, the $1000 is not for the guitar... it's for a computer and the guitar.and I buy American made...that's why I drive a Japanese car

Members MIDIme
So what us happening with these? Seems like a real slow down in demos, videos, and release date... Are they still tweaking software, or manufacturing delay, or what?? I was full of GAS two months ago. Now I barely remember to check on them..... Members Bobby D
they are starting to trickle out.....hopefully we will see the Korean made ones showing up in retail stores for Santa i have been playing a JTV-69 for a couple weeks, and REALLY dig it. i will be doing some demos soon i LOVE the guitar itself......Tyler has knocked it outta the park -- it plays and sounds FANTASTIC without any of the cool electronics.and the Variax electronics sound great as well :cool:more to come..... Members MIDIme
Thanks for the response Bobby D. I'm stuck waiting until they hit GC because I want to play the 3 models. I know which i prefer on looks alone but I'm not ready to let that be the deciding factor. Guess it will be a long wait...
Members DukeOfBoom
thank god they didnt keep the same exact Tyler headstock - the uglist headstock known to man. Although it is pretty close, it's a little more subtle.
