Members bossfrog
I'm planning to use ReValver as my primary home "practice amp" and have a few questions regarding a setup. First off, my interface is a Toneport UX2. What are the specs I need to get good results with the laptop? My sister has a Dell with a 2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo processor and 2 GB of ram. Is that sufficient? Second, what operating system would allow ReValver to run best? XP 64-bit or Windows 7 64-bit. (No OSX suggestions, I'm not paying that much money for this project). Lastly, what would be the best method of output? I can think of three possibilities: 1. From the Toneport to the effects return on my amp.2. From the Toneport to my EH .44 Magnum power amp and then to a small cab, or3. Line out from the Toneport to a keyboard amp with dedicated line-in connections and flat response. I'm leaning toward #3. If anyone else has done this and has any other suggestions, I'm all ears. I just want to see how far I can take ReValver (and Guitar Rig 4) as a live playing option because it just sounds SO damn good!

Yes, although ReValver's convolution speaker cabinet is quite the CPU hog - you might want to go with the Speaker Construction algorithms to minimize latency. Second, what operating system would allow ReValver to run best? XP 64-bit or Windows 7 64-bit. (No OSX suggestions, I'm not paying that much money for this project). Windows 7 64-bit is light-years ahead of XP 64-bit. Lastly, what would be the best method of output? I can think of three possibilities: 1. From the Toneport to the effects return on my amp. 2. I'm leaning toward #3. That's a good choice. I use a Bose L1 system with amp sims because I want to get my sound with the sim, not the amp. That way whether I play live or in the studio, I can plug into a flat system and get the sound I want. If anyone else has done this and has any other suggestions, I'm all ears.
