AD9 - NOS Panasonic BBG chip 300ms max

AD999 - Maxon new production BBG chips, 900ms max

Both run of 9v and sound slightly different tonally.

Really depends how much versatility you need, long delays then the AD9 won't be for you.

AD900 however!! Best of both worlds - NOS Panasonic chips, 600ms max, runs of 12v for greater headroom. Sounds a lot tonally like the AD-80 (which is ver similar to the AD9).

You not comparing apples and apples here, first of the prices you listed are comparing the Ibanez AD9 reissue to the Maxon AD999, I suppose this is where you come up with the $200 difference. The Ibanez AD9 has only 300ms of delay were as the AD999, has 900ms, the older AD900 only had 600ms. The AD999 is true bypass, the Ibanez AD9 is not, the Maxon AD9 is. The Maxon AD9 sounds clearer than the Ibanez AD9. But you can have it modded by Keeley and it will greatly increase the sonic properties of the Ibanez AD9. If you need more than just slap back delay, you will need to move up to the AD999. Otherwise, check out the Line 6 Tone Core Echo Park or BOSS DD-20, both units offer great analog models and are way more capable of machines. I presently own over 20 delay pedals from a Tone Czar to a DanEcho and have most of the delays available.
