I passes some interviews last week, and the one company I really wanted to work for called me back for a second interview... that didn't go so well.

I called them on Friday (I know you should never call on Fridays for that stuff) and he got back to me this morning, and I got the job. Apparently, they really liked my interview:eek:

Anyways, as of January, I'm going to be an actuary, so I' looking to get a new amp :D

An actuary is a math person for the insurance industry (oversimplification).

hmm, so he's in league with the "Greedy B'stards R' Us"?

Man, I hate insurance companies!
They got 5 million reasons for you to pay, and 10 million more why they SHOULDN'T...

I'm glad that someone else has made a joke about this username (which I like a lot). I did a while back and I don't think anyone got it.

Anyway, congratulations on the job!

Now I've just gotta sit back and wait to see when someone will post a parody of this thread and whether it'll be titled "So I got a handjob" or "So I got a blowjob."

Sorry about the misrepresentation. I suppose actuaries do more than just insurance...

Congrats on the job.

So basically you figure out when these crusty old m-therf-ckers will most likely kick off and design your products to extract maximum payments at minimum loss of float.

I'm with Remco, I hate insurance companies. In a situation where the government and/or how society is structured pretty much dictates it to be mandatory, it should be a government run program. I'm pretty libertarian but being that insurance is not a "free market", then it should be a government function because the reason to be for an insurance company (to manage risks) is not compatible with free market (to make a profit).

The equivalent is pretty much the government forcing the people to gamble in a casino where the rules have been made/bent (by actuaries) so that the house always wins. Basically it's another tax (which is what irks my libertarian side).
