Members josiahcooper Posted October 5, 2005 Members Posted October 5, 2005 Anybody have one? I've been looking into them and i wanna see what the feedback on it is
Members Wilbo26 Posted October 5, 2005 Members Posted October 5, 2005 If you're looking for an original, good luck and I hope you've got 400 bucks lying around. They're definately really sweet pedals though, I've never heard anything bad about them. I also don't know if the reissues measure up to the original, but at least you can find those.
Members Wilbo26 Posted October 5, 2005 Members Posted October 5, 2005 There's one on ebay right now:Item #: 7354457234Damn, there's actually several. One is already up to $455 bucks! Granted it looks dead mint and has the box and all materials, but thats pretty damn expensive, and there's 3 days left to go on it.# 7354891605
Members josiahcooper Posted October 5, 2005 Author Members Posted October 5, 2005 wow, yeah their a bit pricy for me right now
Members Fourth Floor Posted October 5, 2005 Members Posted October 5, 2005 An original in minto cond in box sold for about $1250Australian recently. Never seen one like that but neither is it worth that much. Over a grand US.
Members The_Spice Posted October 5, 2005 Members Posted October 5, 2005 ...is the original really THAT much different than the WH4?
Members greaseenvelope Posted October 5, 2005 Members Posted October 5, 2005 Nothing deos what they do or has as good or as wide ranging a pitch tracker, but beware my bandmate has taken his to get fixed 2-3 times now.
Members vindaloo23 Posted October 5, 2005 Members Posted October 5, 2005 I got the Whammy 4 reissue off of a fellow HC forumite, and it's sweet. Took a little getting used to, but I'm definitely having fun with it. The only downside (and this is a minor one) is that it takes AC instead of DC, so you have to use their adapter. Good luck in your search!
Members cutlerman Posted October 5, 2005 Members Posted October 5, 2005 I picked up a reissue for $120 and I really like it. It cetainly is fun to play with. I'd say to get a reissue for cheap and if you really like it then think about getting the original. 400 bones is a lot to pay for a pedal.
Members chrisjnyc Posted October 5, 2005 Members Posted October 5, 2005 I have a few friends who have owned the WH-1... It is the best of the bunch... but the other models capture 99% of the tone. The Whammy IV is good, also the Whammy II.FYI: Jack White uses the whammy IV... Not that he is the best whammy guitarist.. but you have to figure that he could own any pedal on the planet if he wanted it.
Members syciprider Posted October 5, 2005 Members Posted October 5, 2005 I have the new one. I use it when I get geetard fantasies during my bass solos. The octaver and the chorus work great. When in harmony mode I run separate dry and wet channels.
Members gregovertone Posted October 5, 2005 Members Posted October 5, 2005 i have had a couple students who picked up the w4 new....nothing but trouble. it is prone to having calibration issues, and even after sending it back 3x, it was still broken. i would aim for a whammy2.
Members Guitar Guru Posted October 5, 2005 Members Posted October 5, 2005 I have the XP-100 from Digitech.....I think it's great.....I hear it's discontinued now, but it had a nice range of whammy's and other effects.
