Members Lensrock Posted October 11, 2005 Members Posted October 11, 2005 I tried the Small Stone and the Maxon Phase Tone, and liked both. They both have useful qualities. Very Vibe-like sound from the Phase Tone. Also, what about the SIB Mr. Fazeadelic. I like the idea of having two settings at my disposal. Phil
Members Janglin_Jack Posted October 11, 2005 Members Posted October 11, 2005 I think the Phase Tone is more subtle than all the phasers I have tried. I think it a very nice mellow phase sound, good with distortion or clean tones. I think the Small Stone has the widest range of phase tones, especially with the color switch. It becomes personal preference, but the Small Stone is hard to beat for the money. Jack
Members Bowie Posted October 11, 2005 Members Posted October 11, 2005 The Maxon is a very classy phaser. Subtle and handles brighter tones EXTREMELY well. Think: Dark Side of the Moon.
Members Skybone Posted October 11, 2005 Members Posted October 11, 2005 I really like the width of sweep that the Small Stone has. I tried an MXR Phase 90, and was so disappointed with it. Loads of people had been saying great things about them, so I got one, tried it out, and hated it. Haven't heard the Maxon, but if you want the phase tone to versatile with a wide sweep, buy a Small Stone (NYC Reissue though, not the Sovtek one).
