It's one of my favorite albums of all time. Nothing they put out after that album can compare.

meh...its a good album but i only like lost art of keeping a secret, in the fade, tension head, and feel good hit of the summer. All the other albums i listen to straight through and love all the songs.

Hard choice as all of their albums contain awesome material. I would usually say 'Rated R' but as my taste has changed (not to mention wanting to piss off delorean a little) I would have to go for the first album. Has the weakest production values overall IMO, but the guitar sounds and overall whacked-out stoner vibe are best here.

Your best choice is to get a friend who owns all their tracks and a majority of their better B-sides and outtakes to make you a compilation because buying just one album isn't going to get all their gems in one basket.

My suggestions:

Regular John

Avon

How to Handle a Rope

You can't Quit me Baby

Feel Good Hit of the Summer

Lost Art of Keeping a Secret

Auto Pilot

Tension Head

Monsters in the Parasol

Think I lost my Headache

Millionaire

First It Giveth

No One Knows (of course!)

Song for the Dead

Go with the Flow

Medication

Everyone Knows Your Insane

Burn the Witch

Someone's in the Wolf (the best rock adaptation of a fairy tale ever)

Little Sister

In My Head

Long Slow Goodbye

Ode to Clarissa

Back to Dungaree High

Born to Hula

Infinity (so good its a crime it never made an album)

Never Say Never (an outstanding cover)

Um... alternatively buy all their albums. :D

yeah thats what I'm thinking seems like I like them enough to want to get all their stuff. Just so I get the whole picture.

it's rare for me to get excited about a new band. (for me anyway)

thank you guys.

cause you know, they like, totally lost their edge and stuff.

I keep hearing this from people and it bothers me, too... Anyone who is a fan of the desert sessions stuff as well as QOTSA knows that Homme and the whole band have been moving in that direction for a while now... they rock just as hard now as they ever did, IMO.
