Members keano Posted October 23, 2005 Members Posted October 23, 2005 Does anyone know how Zakk W. uses his chorus settings for solos?
Members Speeddemon Posted October 23, 2005 Members Posted October 23, 2005 Most likely it's subtle and stereo (as he uses a Boss CH-1). Normally, when using MONO chorus with distortion, you get an instant cheesy 80's hairmetal tone, but with the right amount of true stereo, the sound becomes fatter, without robbing the balls from it. The guys from Stryper also knew how this should be done; listen to "Rocking the World" intro, it's a HUGE sound! Chorussed, yes, but huge!
Members keano Posted October 23, 2005 Author Members Posted October 23, 2005 Thanks so if I am running mono only then I shouldn't bother it for a fat tone then?

You can also achieve such phatness with a delay, where 1 amp receives the dry signal and 1 receives a very short delayed signal (12-20ms).
