I just pimped my desktop with this program and some of the really nifty widgets that people have programmed for it.

Got my gigantic recycle bin... my dancing G.I.R.... my weather / moon cycle updater, to-do list, and quote of the day, as well as a picture frame/slide show on my second monitor.

They have all kinds of other fun/useful widgets like daily web-cartoon updates for a lot of popular ones like Penny Arcade.

Interactive cartoon characters from Futurama, Yoda, Dart Vader, etc. etc.

Tons of sports score and stock tickers.

A lot of really cool mini-interfaces that work with Win-Amp and iTunes.

Even a guitar tuner. :')

Probably the geekiest one I downloaded was a Words Per Minute speedometer if you can imagine such a thing.

Coolest part about the little widgets are that they are highly customizeable and most of them blend in with your desktop.

Oh... and they eat up very very little processor power.

Anyhow... check it out :

P.S. BTW to the guy in the other "desktop" thread who let me know about this program.

LOL - I spent most of the day yesterday downloading widgets and playing with this. Konfabulator really is a sweet program and has totally changed how I use my computer. I even have a quick launch bar now similar to the Mac OS on my Win XP machine... sweet!

Next step... making my own widgets!

Oh, and make sure you download Stewie... or "burn in hell!!" :thu:

Yes. Pretty much every widget is cross compatable between PC and Mac. :')

It was developed by Mac people ;)

Their most popular software (I guess) was Kaleidoscope. Friendly people too.

OS X 10.4 includes the "similar" Dashboard. I never liked that one, disabled it, and run Konfabulator instead from time to time.

thanks devi ,

this is pretty cool.

-Is dashboard for mac's only?

Dashboard comes as part of OS X 10.4 "Tiger"

Some people prefer it, others run both programs, and others like me have disabled Dashboard. I think the most recent TinkerTool has an option to disable Dashboard.

I may use them by 10.5 or 11 :D

I actually do use Spotlight from time to time, and it shows great promise. When I really need to find something on my computer I always go back to File Buddy or other programs.

Automator was extremely slow for me, so I never use it :(

Now, if someone would come up with a program combining DevonThink, Tinderbox and Curio...
