This album is the one that sounds least like a GbV record -- i.e., no lo-fi, no quick song snippets, etc. -- but it totally rocks. Great songs all the way through and BIG guitar sounds. Like most Guided by Voices records, however, once it gets in your head it has a habit of staying there for a while.

I know this band doesn't get a lot of love around these parts, but I just thought I'd give a deserving album props, yo.

They don't? Well, that's everybody else's loss, cuz I love 'em! "Alien Lanes" and "Bee Thousand" are my faves. I don't have "Isolation Drills;" I'll have to check it out.

It's a lot different than Alien Lanes or B-1,000. It's their big rock record. Great tunes though.
