Members phishmarisol Posted November 9, 2005 Members Posted November 9, 2005 Damn! I had no idea they cost that much. Hell, at least I only have 1 12" in my amp! So anyhow, are they worth it?
Members ode2no1 Posted November 9, 2005 Members Posted November 9, 2005 what kind of amp is it anyway? ive always wondered if they were worth it....but i really only considered putting one in my blues junior....and that just doesnt seem worth it. the speaker would have cost almost as much as the amp.
Members agentcooper2001 Posted November 9, 2005 Members Posted November 9, 2005 if you have a Vox or similar amp and what that original Vox-ish sound, then yes, they are worth it. What kind of amp are you using?
Members phishmarisol Posted November 9, 2005 Author Members Posted November 9, 2005 Fender Hot Rod Deluxe Actually not gonna purchase any speaker anytime soon. Was just checking out some today out of curiousity and really didn't know they were that expensive.
Members agentcooper2001 Posted November 9, 2005 Members Posted November 9, 2005 maybe try a Red Fang or a Weber Blue Dog in that amp. I would probably do that anyway, since the Cel. Blue is rated at 15 watts. I'd worry about blowing it with a hot rod deluxe.
Members Zooey Posted November 9, 2005 Members Posted November 9, 2005 I think it's a very amp-specific thing. In the wrong amp, they come across as muddy and inefficient.

I once had an Alnico Weber Blue Dog in my HRDx (50watter) and it was a tone monster. That thing ate gain for breakfast and sounded as big as a 4x12 cab. No lie...

Members murtaghstyle Posted November 9, 2005 Members Posted November 9, 2005 I had them with a JTM45 and sounded great but I wouldn't throw em in that amp. They are very 'british' sounding for lack of a better term.
